HOPE School Services CEO

HOPE School Services (HOPE) was founded because someone wanted to see a change in the field of Special Education. Sylvia and her then partner was dissatisfied with the services that were being provided to the students in their school. Then one day, in the year 2016, they decided to do something about their dissatisfaction. As a result, Sylvia co-founded HOPE (Heading towards Our Potential Endeavors) Educational Services. HOPE Educational Services focused on providing instructional and special education services. A year later, Sylvia’s passion for Special Education led her to become the Founder and Director of Related Services for HOPE School Services. HOPE School Services specializes in producing exceptional outcomes. As the Director of Related Services with HOPE, she is primarily responsible for building a network of providers. Sylvia is accountable for the placement of related service personnel for students who require therapy or any related service. She delivers ongoing training and support for related service personnel to assure that they are compliant with federal and state regulations. Sylvia provides specialized leadership through comprehensive planning, coordination, and implementation of services.

Sylvia is a trailblazing Educator with extensive training in Special Education. Her career path began at Essex County College (ECC) where she received her Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon completion of the Associates program, Sylvia transferred to Virginia State University (VSU). As a student at VSU, she worked for the Office of Students with Disabilities to ensure that her fellow schoolmates received the appropriate accommodations needed to excel in college. Sylvia obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Virginia State University. She is known to have an adventurous spirit, a zest for life, and the desire to live fully. Her adventurous spirit took her out west to the state of California. While exploring California, Sylvia continued with her love of Education and obtained her Master of Arts degree in Reading. Then, in 2014, Sylvia’s career pathway lead her Delaware where she began work as an Educational Diagnostician. Sylvia is a lifelong learner. She continues to further her knowledge of Special Education. Thus, in August 2019, she has obtained an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership with a focus in Special Education.

Throughout her career, Sylvia has spent time teaching in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as at the college level. She has worked as a General Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Reading Specialist, Adjunct Professor of English, Educational Diagnostician, and Special Education Director. Sylvia has had various honors bestowed upon her. She has been recognized for her innovative teaching abilities as well as her dedication to students and families. Despite these honors, she takes the most pride in the success of her students.

Sylvia enjoys giving back to the community and therefore has sponsored various community organizations and events. Sylvia currently works as a Special Education Consultant and has received her PhD in Special Education. Her research centers around exploring Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Practices (CLRPs) for diverse students with disabilities. Dr. Simmons recognizes the blessing of being able to sow into the lives of students and families. She also spends time doing what is in her heart, advocating for students with exceptional needs.

Chantell Clark

Chantell Clark has a variety of experience in the financial industry. She has been working in the banking field for the past 7 years. Her work experiences include providing account services to customers by receiving deposits and loan payments, issuing savings withdrawals, recording deposits, supervising tellers and other related bank services. Her role at HOPE is to help ensure all personnel files are in compliance. She also assists in other Human Resource and Payroll tasks.
